3 Common Wiring Methods for LED Linear Lights
LED linear lights are a popular lighting solution for both indoor and outdoor applications due to their energy efficiency, long lifespan, and low maintenance requirements. However, when it comes to wiring LED linear lights, different methods can be used to achieve a clean, seamless look. In this article, Canco will shares three common wiring methods for LED linear lights: side wiring, end cap wiring, and bottom wiring, and provide some tips on calculating the appropriate distance for the connection.
1. Side Wiring
The side wiring method involves drilling a hole in one of the aluminum profiles of the linear light that matches the diameter of the wire and connecting the wire to the printed circuit board (PCB) through the hole. This method allows for a seamless installation with no dark spots and easy installation. However, it is not the best method for hiding power and signal wires, as the wires are exposed and visible. This method is best suited for small building applications where wires are not easily noticeable.
2. End Cap Wiring
The end cap wiring method involves drilling a hole in the middle of the end cap of the LED linear lights and running the wire through it. This method is different from the bottom wiring method, as there is about a 1cm gap between each light. This gap does not affect the overall brightness and can be filled in by the light itself. This method is convenient for installations with power and signal wires hidden within walls, and it is easy to install. While not as seamless as the bottom wiring method, end cap wiring is still relatively easy to install and is suitable for various building applications.
3. Bottom Wiring
The bottom wiring method involves cutting a notch on each end of the aluminum profile of the linear light, inserting the wire with a tail card into the notch, and securing the end cap with screws. This method allows for a seamless installation and allows for both power and signal wires to be hidden beneath the light fixture. The H-shaped design of the bottom wiring light fixture makes it convenient for hiding wires and gives a more aesthetic look to the overall installation. This method is becoming more popular with customers due to its easy installation and clean look.
When it comes to calculating the distance between the wire and the LED linear lights, it is important to consider the installation method. If the lights are installed side-by-side with no gap, the wire distance should be calculated based on the length of the male and female connectors. If there is a gap between each light, the distance should be measured between the two lights and the wiring should be customized according to the user’s requirements.
